Destin florida fishing report update: 4/3/18
The weather has finally been getting real pretty, the wind has calmed down and temperatures are rising.
In shore fishing- with the high winds over the last week its been hard to get out in the Gulf but the spanish mackerel bite inside the rocks and around crab island has been very steady. There are still some sheepshead being caught at the bridge and the west jetty along with some redfish and a few pompano. Spoons and mackerel trees have been the lure of choice for spanish and fiddler crabs have been the best bite for sheepshead.
Nearshore- with warming temperatures the cobia migration has picked up some with a few cobia being caught of the beach by traditional sight fishing.
Deep sea fishing- with the calmer sea in the forecast you should be able to get off the beach and do some bottom fishing, vermilion snapper, white snapper and triggerfish are still biting pretty good you just may have to travel a ways to find some keepers.
Shark fishing- shark fishing close to the beach still hasn’t kicked off yet but there is a lot of bait so the black tip and spinner sharks should start showing up soon. The wreak shark fishing as been very good so if you wanted to catch a big shark now is a good time.
