Destin FL, fishing report update: 4/27/2018

The weather for the end of march has not be very kind with high winds being the biggest problem but with the gusty days the fishing has still be great. Proving that there is always something to catch in Destin!
Inshore fishing- the sheepshead bite has slowed down but there are still a few fish being caught around the bridge and jetties. There as also been a few pompano caught around the jetties and the beaches and if you wanted a harder fight there have been some bull redfish caught around the jetties as well. The Spanish appear to be making a strong appearance again as well. We have spent several trips catching good numbers of spanish mackerels just inside the pass on light tackle. Gold and silver spoons and mackerel trees with small trolling leads are what they are liking right now. Spanish mackerel make some of our favorite table fare as well! So, on those windy days don’t let that discourage you. Spanish are very fun to catch and are very good on the dinner plate.
Offshore- deep sea fishing is still very good with catches of triggerfish, vermilion snapper and white snapper. You just have to travel a little bit to find a better bite or stay close and throw back a lot before finding keepers but it’s a steady fun bite with lots of fish being caught (awesome for kids).
Shark fishing- shark fishing is really good especially on wreaks, anchor up and chum is the best bite right now and has been producing.
