January and February – Cold Weather Fishing

There is usually always something to catch in destin even during the cold winter months. The sheepshead start their spawn in the late winter/early spring and is an awesome way to spend time on the water, live shrimp and light tackle is the top choice for sheepshead fisherman. Another option is sight fishing for migrating bull redfish right off the beach with live shrimp and artificial jigs this offer a big fish on light tackle experience, big redfish are a catch and release fishing option.

As always just off the beach you can use cut squid and multiple hook rigs to catch vermilion snapper, red porgy and triggerfish (season may vary on triggerfish). When not fishing in January and February we use this slower time to get the boat ready for the upcoming season with annual maintenance. this year we are excited to announce the addition of a cobia tower being added to our boat and the addition of a brand new Yamaha 250 4 stroke.
